At Ray Morgan Company (RMC) we pride ourselves on our volunteer work in our communities. One of the many events we support is Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. This is a march to help raise awareness against domestic violence. This event is sponsored by the Weave foundation, which strives to build a community that does not tolerate sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. It provides survivors with the support needed to be safe and thrive. This creates a unique opportunity to raise awareness in the community about the effects of sexual assault and domestic violence. Three volunteers from our Roseville office participated in the event.

At the start, each participant chooses a provided pair of heels to walk/run in. The foundation is known for its red heels, but there are many colors and sizes available. Heels are known to cause pain and discomfort during the run, which allows participants a brief view of the struggle of a woman.

Once the shoes are picked, the runners are ready. The Walk is one mile long and is attended by men, women, and children of all ages.

Just before the walk there is a competition for the best-dressed group. Many people dress in costume, skirts, or even thigh high leather boots. The winners this year were dressed with pride in skirts, and full beards.

It also had many booths supporting the walk, all from local businesses and volunteer groups.

Some of the sponsors include; Western Health Advantage, Smud, Verizon, KPMG, KAI Partners, Alpen Green Technology Group, Cyrq Energy, Carter West, and Bearpaw.

There was even a band playing live music at the event.

Overall, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes was a success. Employees from the RMC Chico and Roseville branches plan on attending again next year. It was a great way to have a good time while supporting a great cause.
