Machine Reuse and Toner Recycle Process

Our Initiative: Finding ways to Go Green

At RMC, we are committed to providing environmental accountability. From delivery and set-up to machine pick-up, you can be assured that we are making a positive impact to the environment.

With the purchase of your new equipment, you will value the features that help save energy, paper, and toner. RMC is proud to be partners with Canon, Kyocera, Nuance and others because of their high-standards of operation and environmental policies. As a consumer, you can be assured that your new hardware and software is developed and manufactured with a Green vision in mind.

As part of our Go Green initiatives, the Ray Morgan Company has established an Equipment Re-use and Toner Recycle Process that places environmental accountability at every stage of the office equipment’s life cycle. Our Go Green: Equipment Re-use and Toner Recycle process is an extension of Canon’s philosophy of Kyosei—living and working together for the common good. This philosophy includes the vendors that RMC does business with to ensure that you are using the most eco-friendly technology available. The following information outlines the procedures that Ray Morgan Company has in place to minimize the carbon footprint of your business operations and technology.

What happens to my old equipment?

Refurbish
Machines are thoroughly inspected by our trained Canon Service Technicians who assess the usability and quality of the returned equipment. Machines that exceed the quality inspection criteria are re-built by our dedicated team of certified technicians. Refurbished equipment surpasses manufacturer specifications, is meticulously tested and polished before leaving our warehouse. The refurbished equipment not only extends product life and limits its impact on the environment, but it also passes on the savings to you by providing you with a lower cost solution for high-quality technology to suit your needs.

Recycle
Equipment that has reached its full service life is then delivered to California Electronic Asset Recovery (CEAR) for recycling.

As part of CEAR’s recycling process, they separate all hard drives from the electronics and physically destroy them with a shredding method. CEAR does not resell or reuse any data containing devices. By shredding the hard drives, any data contained on the device is completely non-recoverable and complies with data privacy acts such as, FACTA and HIPPA.

CEAR individualizes and recycles each part and then sends the various components to specific recycling companies who then reuse the material.

Learn more about the recycling process by visiting the CEAR website.

What do I do with my empty cartridges?

Toner technology has evolved in strides over the past few years. As a result, we have outlined the following recycling processes to help make it easier for our customers to recycle.

Toner Recycle Process:
Printer Laser cartridges (fax and printer only) - Cartridges are sent to be refilled and then are resold to customers. By re-using and re-filling empty cartridges we are minimizing waste and using fewer resources.

To return Laser cartridges at no cost, visit www.tonerrecycle.net:

  • Fill out online form
  • Print the shipping label
  • Put the cartridge in a box
  • Place box at a UPS drop-off and you’re done. It’s that simple!

Toner Recycle Process:
Copier toner cylinders (copiers only) - RMC has provided toner drop off sites in:

  • Chico – 3131 Esplanade, Chico CA 95973
  • Redding – 20240 Skypark Drive, Redding CA 96002
  • Roseville – 1580 Vineyard Road, Roseville CA 95678

Empty copier toner cylinders can be dropped off at the designated locations. RMC delivers the accumulated empty copier toner cylinders to California Electronic Asset Recovery (CEAR) where they are broken down and sent to specific recycling companies who then reuse the material to build various other products.
